A Brief History

Phillip Kanke (He/Him) is freelance professional Dramaturg and Literary Consultant, specializing in historical and literary research, as well as script consultations. With a keen eye for detail and a passion for storytelling, he offers services aimed at enhancing the quality and depth of theatrical productions.

Phillip grew up in St. Joseph, Missouri, a town rich in history and rich in theatre. From a young age, Phillip grew extremely fascinated with both discipline’s and how intertwined they are. In December of 2023, Phillip earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Theatre with a minor in Creative Writing from Missouri State University.

Using tools and methods influenced by his advisor, Dr. Kyle A. Thomas, along with other theatre scholars; Phillip delves into diverse historical periods to provide accurate context for plays, as well as conducting in-depth literary analysis to help creators develop compelling narratives.
